What is SIMDriver

Physical control desk for PC simulators

SIMDriver is a standalone control desk that connects to your PC via USB-C and/or Bluetooth. It looks and behaves like a real cab – no keyboard, but levers, brakes, switches and indicator lights.

The goal is to bring as much of the real locomotive cab feeling as possible directly to your desk.

  • metal frame, sheet metal panels, serviceable design
  • stepper-motor gauges with backlight
  • brake handle, power controller, switches and buttons mapped into the game
  • custom SIMDriver electronics – no DIY required

Technical product – not just a toy

The desk is designed as a proper electronic device – separate 12 V power input, a main controller board, expansion modules and the possibility to interface with DCC buses (XpressNet / LocoNet) via the PC application.

  • powered from a safe external 12 V adapter
  • communication via USB (HID / COM) and Bluetooth
  • modular concept – gauges, indicators, inputs, audio
  • prepared for future extensions and firmware updates
Train Simulator Classic Other PC simulators Optional DCC integration

Who SIMDriver is for

Sim enthusiasts and drivers

Whether you just enjoy train simulators or you drive trains in real life, SIMDriver is for you if you want to reach for real controls instead of a keyboard.

  • train simulator enthusiasts
  • drivers who want to practice “offline” at home
  • sim rigs where a keyboard or gamepad is not enough

Training, demos, model railways

Thanks to open software and interfaces, the desk can also be used for basic training, demonstrations or in combination with a model railway – the PC app acts as a bridge to DCC buses.

  • small training / demo setups without a full-size simulator
  • clubs and groups with their own simulator corner
  • combination: real style desk + model railway layout

Development status and sales plan

Current status

At the moment, development of the main electronics, gauge modules, indicator modules and mechanical construction of the desk is in progress. In parallel, a PC application is being developed to connect SIMDriver with Train Simulator Classic and other simulators.

  • main PCB design and prototypes
  • testing of gauge, indicator and input modules
  • first mechanical frame and panel concepts
  • preparation for certification (EMC, safety, radio where needed)

Plan for the first production run

The goal is to launch a limited first run of SIMDriver Rail desks, primarily for early adopters who contact me in advance and help to fine-tune the final product.

  • pilot series for a limited number of users
  • support via e-mail and growing online documentation
  • direct feedback channel from real users

Tell me what you expect from the desk

Are you interested in SIMDriver, have questions about functionality, interfaces, or would you like to have a desk on your table as soon as it’s ready?

Write briefly which simulators you use and what you expect from the desk (train only, mixed sims, model railway integration, etc.). This helps to shape the final version.

What’s coming next

The website will gradually get:

  • photos of prototypes and the final desk
  • technical specs and configuration options
  • a download section – firmware, tools, manuals
  • information about ordering and lead times

This page is the first step – the official home of the SIMDriver brand.
